AN EVALUATION OF THE IMPACT OF PERIMETER FENCING ON SCHOOL SECURITY AND THERMAL COMFORT OF THE STUDENTS
ABSTRACT
This study evaluated the impact of
perimeter fencing on school security and the thermal comfort of students. The
study looked at the idea, traits, and varieties of perimeter fencing as well as
how it affects the development of safe and comfortable learning environments.
Perimeter fencing acts as the first line of physical security by preventing
illegal access, lowering theft and vandalism, enhancing access control, and
assisting emergency response and surveillance systems, according to evidence
from recent research. Additionally, the study found that perimeter fence
affects air flow, shadowing, solar heat gain, and microclimatic conditions on
school grounds, all of which have an impact on kids' thermal comfort. On the other hand, poorly constructed solid
fences may reduce thermal comfort by obstructing natural ventilation and increasing
heat storage. The study concludes that perimeter fencing should be designed not
only to enhance school security but also to promote climate-responsive learning
environments. It recommends the integration of durable fencing materials,
vegetation, and modern security technologies to achieve safer, healthier, and
more comfortable school environments.
