DESIGNING AND BUILDING A SECURE HOUSE FOR CONTROLLED ACCESS: EVALUATING THE FEATURES AND BENEFITS
ABSTRACT
The growing concerns
over residential insecurity, including burglary, trespassing, and unauthorized
access, have made it imperative to adopt advanced approaches to housing design
that prioritize safety. This study focuses on the design and construction of
secure houses with controlled access, examining the essential features,
operational mechanisms, and overall benefits of such systems in modern
residential environments. Controlled access systems involve the strategic
integration of physical structures and digital technologies to regulate,
monitor, and restrict entry to authorized individuals only. Key components
include perimeter fencing, reinforced doors and windows, surveillance cameras,
motion detectors, alarm systems, smart locks, and biometric authentication
technologies such as fingerprint and facial recognition systems. The study
evaluates how these features collectively enhance residential security by
deterring potential intruders, enabling real-time monitoring, and facilitating
rapid response to security breaches. In addition, the incorporation of smart
home technologies allows homeowners to remotely manage access, receive instant
notifications, and maintain control over their property regardless of location.
Beyond security, the study highlights other significant benefits, including
improved privacy, increased property value, and enhanced comfort and peace of
mind for occupants. However, the study also identifies challenges associated
with the implementation of controlled access systems, such as high installation
costs, maintenance requirements, technological vulnerabilities, and the need
for user awareness and proper system management. Despite these limitations, the
research concludes that designing and building secure houses with controlled
access is a sustainable and effective solution to contemporary security
challenges. It recommends the adoption of integrated, scalable, and cost-efficient
security systems to promote safer residential living. One of the recommendation
mae was that homeowners should adopt integrated security systems that combine
both physical and digital security measures for maximum protection.
